THE STOCK COMMITTEE.

There was a full meeting of the Stock Committee held this morning. The Hon. .Mr A eland was elected Chairman of the Legislative Council Stock Committee and Mr Lance* Chairman of the House Committee. Subsequently a meeting of the Joint Committees was held, when it wae resolved that various important papers; relating to stock and rabbits should be asked for. , The Hon. Mr. Eichardson promised' that these would be supplied in due course. One member- emphatically protested against the instructions issued to shtfep-ownera, which he said virtually compelled them to turn their sheep into a tar-pbti It is likely that this matter will •be vigorously dealt with-at the next meeting of the Committee jointly add severally. Notice was given of intention to deal with ■other weighty matters, and' it "is. antici■pated that the next meeting will be of a highly important character. -~.-.:
