In the Legislative Council yesterday the Church Property Trust of Canterbury Act, 1879, Amendment -Bill, was read a third time and passed. The Attorney-General introduced the Canterbury Society of Arts Eeserves Bill, and after some formal business the Council adjourned at 3.45 p.m. till to-dayi J-. ,/i | •/.;' :■..',' In the House of Representatives Mr Fisher said that the Gasparini correspondence had been printed at the request of Sir W. Jervois, had .expressed his regret that he '(ffltr Fisher) " should have been subjected to such an unfounded accusation as had been made against him in connectwa x Wit& this matter." Mr Perceval introduced the Municipal Corporations Act" Amendment Bill. Mr Duncan moved a resolution apparently in favor of^ ; ' establishing: State distilleries. Till debate was ultimately adjourned for a week.- .-. Both resolution and amendment, however, were shelved by the adjournment of the debate for a month being carried. Mr Pyke's Private Schools Bill waa debated all the eveninjjjand up to an early hour this morning, this being the first latei sitting of the session.
