Almost certainly be the case, the Christ-* *hurch Empowering Bill has been killed,! Notwithstanding the able argument off counsel for the Bill. There was no getting* ipver the point raised( which I fully explained* |n my telegram of Friday) that the Bilfdid directly aiTect the property of in< dividuals (although they were banded to-: gether as a Company), and bo, according tol the rule laid down, it ia a " Private Bill,"? and not a " local" one. The Joint Committee, after an immensely long sitting, in which the points raised on both sides were, carefully considered, decided that the Bill, was a private one. This decision is neces*; sanly fatal, as it is now too late to lake' the needful steps for promoting the Bill as*
