CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES, Paris, April 12. The Chamber of Deputies has been adjourned until May 14th. SHOCKING MURDER. A terrible tragedy is reported from Limoges, an ancient town and capital of the department of Upper Vienne. A mother strangled five of her children, and then attempted suicide. THE MAHDI. Suakim, April 12. A spy who has arrived here from the camp of the Mahdi reports that Ras Aloula, the Abyssinian Commander, has been captured and beheaded, and his head forwarded to the Mahdi. He also brings letters from missionaries at Khartoum and from Slatin Bey. THE AMERICAN CUP. New York, April 12. The New York Yachc Club has accepted Lord Dunraven's challenge for the Amerioa Cup. OBITUARY. General Millen, a noted Fenian. Received April 14th, 6 p.m. NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITS. London, April 13. The New Zealand Exhibits for the Paris Exhibition by the Salazie, which were detained owing to a strike of wharf hands, have now been landed and plaoed in their court. ORIENT COMPANY. The Orient Steam Shipping Company have declared a dividend of 5 per cent., and carried forward £55,000 to the reserve fund. COUNTY COUNCILS. The Court of Queen's Bench has decided, apropos of Lady Sandhurst, that women are ineligible for seats on County Councils. MRS LANGTRY'S HOUSE. Information has been received that Mrs Langtry's residence at New York has been destroyed by fire. HEAVY FAILURE. ■ Kell and Co., merchants of Bradford, have suspended payment, with liabilities amounting to £90,000. SUGAR CONVENTION. In the House of Commons Sir L. Playfair, member for Leeds S., intends to move that the sugar convention be not ratified till it is shown that it does not restrict imports as expected. BELGIAN CONSUL. Arthur Massey has been appointed Belgian Consul at Auckland. ADJOURNMENT. The House of Commons adjourned till Tuesday, April 29th, for the Easter holidays. NEW GUINEA COMPANY, Berlin, April 13. The German New Guinea Company have resolved to transfer the administration of the colony to the Empire, and will make a call of £75 per share. Received April 15th, 1 a.xn. THE BLASPHEMY LAWS. London, April 14. Mr Bradlaugh's Bill repealing the blasphemy laws was rejected by a majority of 95. THE LORD LIEUTENANT OF IRELAND. It is rumored that Lord Ormonde will succeed Lord Londonderry as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. SULTAN OF MOROCCO. A despatch received from Morocco says that the Sultan has despatched troops to prevent European troops landing on Salee Coast. THE GERMANS AT ZANZIBAR. Zanzibar, April 14. Bushire, the Arab leader, is endeavoring to make peace with Captain Wiseman, who is in charge of the German operations. DEATH OF MR DUNSMUIR. Victoria, April 14. The Hon. R. Dunsmuir, President of the Council of British Columbia, died to-day.
