THE MEMBER FOR ST. ALBANS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sra,—As all your readers may not have the privilege of reading the New Zealand Tablet, the Roman Catholic organ In Dunedin, I take the liberty of sending you a few extracts from it with reference to our member. Mr Reeves is praised for his liberal mindedness and pluck, and the writer then goes on to say—" A man like that, who has sterling honesty of principle as well as ability, nas a future before him in the political world, and I have little doubt that the day is not far distant when Mr W. P. Reeves will occupy a brilliant position as a publio man in this colony. His constituents may rest assured that in him they have a representative who will truckle to nobody and who'will stick to his principles at any cost. In my opinion, that is the very best reputation that a young politician can have."
There is much more to the same effect, but I have only quoted the above passage from the Tablet in order to let my fellow electors know how highly our member it esteemed in that quarter.—Yours, &c, St. Albans Elector*
