RIFLE SHOOTING.

MOUNTED RIFLES v N. BATTERY, N.Z.R.A. A match was fired at the Lyttelton Range on Saturday last between the above Corps, and resulted in a win for the Mounted Rifles by 43 points. During the afternoon a steady rain fell, and the target afc the 400 yds range was barely distinguishable. The conditions of the the match were seven shots at 200 yds, 300 yds and 400 yds respectively, Wimbledon scoring. The following axe the scores :— MOUNTED RIFLES. 200 300 400 yds. yds. yd 3. TI. CITY GUARDS.

Despit. the heavy rain on Saturday afternoon the City Guards held the first competition for Sergeant Lavery's trophy. The shooting, with the exception of Ser?eant Willis* score of 76, was rather poor, he following are the five highest scores, the ranges being 200, 300 and 400 yards. Seven shots each range. Sergeant Willis, scratch, 76; Corporal Steere, scratch, 65; Private Marshall, 15 handicap, 62; Private Hooper, 15 handicap, 60; Private Dunford, 15 handicap, 58.

C.V.C. v MOUNTED RIFLES.

A .carbine match has been arranged between a team from Northern detachment of the C.V.C. and a team from the Canterbury Mounted Rifles. Conditions, seven men aside; seven shots at 200, 300 and 400 yards. Tbe following have been chosen to represent the C.V.C.—Sergeant Lean, Troopers Buchanan, Horrell, Las'celles, Pemberton, White and Winslow. The match wili take place on April sth, jon the Bromley Range. .
