HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

A floral and horticultural show was held last evening in connection with the Sydenham and Audington Working Men's Club in a marquee erected at the rear of the Club's premises. The change of weather no doubt kept several members from exhibiting, and made the attendance smaller than otherwise would have been the case, but nevertheless the show was an exceedingly creditable one. The exhibits were very good, and the show was well made up with a quantity of excellent blooms, &c, sent for exhibition only. Messrs Guntrip and Line, of the Spreydon Nursery, sent a splendid collection of dahlias, also verbenas, pentstemons, roses, collections of cut blooms, pot plants, potatoes, &c"; Mr W. Norman, dahlias, asters., marigolds, and general collection of cut blooms; Mr Baldwin, cut blooms, W. Starkiss, French and African marigolds and general collection of blqoms ; Mr J. Donald (Papanui), zinnias, asters, verbenas, antirrhinums, hollyhocks, &c Mr A. McKay acted as hon. secretary, and to him is due a considerable amount of praise for the way in which he arranged matters. The judges were Messrs Guntrip and Line. No money prizes were given this year, but a neatly printed certificate of merit was given to each prize winner instead.
