ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

TO THE EDITOR OF THB PRBSS. Sih—Your correspondent in Wednesday's issue, although strictly correct in all his overstatements respecting the Society, is evidently not aware of an important fact in reference to the first introduction of sparrows, namely, that the five birds refused by the Society were the second lot. The first lot of forty-one birds were ordered, imported, paid for, and liberated by the Society at least twelve mouths previous—facts easily verified by the newspaper reports at the time, by the Society's annual reports and cash-book, and by numerous members who were present at the gardens to see the first imported sparrows and other birds liberated. — Yours, &c., A. M. JOHXSON. Troatdale Farm, Opawa.
