ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET. Wednesday. Larger entries of both fat and store sheep, an average entry of fat cattle, a small entry of store cattle, and a heavy entry of pigs formed to-day's market. The attendance of buyers and others interested was large, the weather fine, and on the whole a slightly better tone in business all round. Fat Cattle—A good number yarded, a little more than the demand could absorb; values, however, were fairly firti at late low rates. Prime bullocks sold at from 15s to £6 12s 6d, medium weights £4 12s 6d to £5, heifers sold at from £3 los to JEo 7s 6d, being at from 15s to about 16s 6d perlOOlbs, according as quality varied. Messrs Matson and Co. sold for Mr P. Henley 23 head at from £5 7s 6d to £6 10s; for Mr H. Kennedy 2 bullocks at £5 and £5 17s 6d ; for clients 5 cows at £3 to £3 16s; 6 steers at £6 10s; 3 heifers at £4 5s and £4 10s; 3 at £3 10s and £3 17s 6d ; for Mr F. Redman 1 cow at £6 and one heifer at £3 18s ; for Mr Humphreys 1 cow at £4 16s; for Mr J. Haydon 3 heifers at £3 17s 6d to £5; for Mr W. Ferguson, 5 heifers at £3. Stoke Cattle.—A very small entry, chiefly if not altogether odd lots. The inquiry was anything but keen. Values remain as before quoted. Dairy Cattle.—A fairly good number yarded, with a moderately good demand. Very prime cows sold at from £5 5s to £6 10s, medium sorts £3 to £4 ss. Messrs Matson and Co. sold for Mr J. Haydon, cows at £5 10s and £7; for clients, springers from £3 to £5 ss, dairy cows from £3 to £7 10s; for the Drainage Board, cows at £3 12s 6d and £4; for Mr \V. Walker, springers at £4. Messrs Miles and Co. sold for the Cashmere Estate, steers at 355, heifers at 30s, and cows at £2 10s, springers at £2 10s, Messrs Bennetts Bros, sold two-year-old steers at £2 10s, store cows £2 to £2 18s, and dairy cows at from £3 to £6 10s per head. Fat Sheep.—A fairly heavy entry, the quality in a few cases being exceptionally prime; but rather a larger portion than usual was second-rate quality. The demand for mutton was entirely local, but graziers were In attendance to take any lines that suited them. The market opened ..fairly firm, and continued so until towards the end of the sale, when it gave way a little. On the whole the values of last week were fairly well maintained. Crossbred wethers of the primest quality and heavy weights sold at from 10s 9d to 12s 3d; medium weights, 8s 3d to 9s 9d; crossbred ewes sold at from 5s 9d to 9s 10d; merino wethers at from 4s 6d to 5s 9d per head, being at from ljd to a full lgd per lb, according to the quality. Bowman, 40 crossbred wethers 11s 3d to 12s 3d, and 28 ewes 9s 6d to 10s; for clients, 89 crossbreds 9a 2d to 10s 6d, and 292 merinos 5s 6d, and a line of 425 crossbred wethers at 10s Ud ; for Mr G. Bull; for the same clients, 20 wethers of the same description made 11s 9d and 20 Hβ 3d; for a client, they sold 25 crossbred ewes at 6s 9d, 23 at 5s lid, and 22 at 5s 4d ; and for varions owners, crossbred wethers from 7s 9d to 9s. and ewes at 6s to 8s 3d. Pigs.—A very large entry, mainly stores, a big line coming down from the North Island. The demand was pietty keen, all lots being placed at fully late ruling rates.
