ATTEMPTED SUICIDE OF A CRICKETER.
(PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Received January 25th, 9.50 p.m.
London, January 24. Bates, the Yorkshire professional cricketer, the sight of whose eye was permanently injured by a blow while practising last summer in Melbourne, cut his throat in a fit of melancholy induced by the accident. The unfortunate man is still lingering.
