PEDESTRIANISM.

JOE SCOTT AT THE RINK.

There was a fairly good attendance at the Rink during the second evening of Scott's six days' walking contest. J. McCoart was again his first opponent, and both men started at ten minutes past eight o'clock last night. The pace for the first, hoar was not particularly brilliant when compared with that of the first hour for Monday. McCourt evidently felt the work of the previous evening, and Scott i did not show any inclination to push him. As a result the combination gained I nothing. McCourt retired at 9.10 p.m., the score being—Combination, 28 miles 10 laps; Scott, 26 miles 7 laps, or 1 mile 3 laps behind. Muhliesen, the second man, set a merry pace, which, however, was responded to by Scott, who occasionally spurted and regained a lap Muhliesen had obtained, as well as one from the previous score, so that he was then only 1 mile 2 laps behind. This was Che distance between them at 10.10 p.m., when Bowen took the path. He did the 3dth mile in Bmiu 24sec, which was the fastest time for the evening so far, and he had also gained a lap, which placed the combination in exactly the same position as at the beginning of the evening, namely, 1 mile 3 laps ahead. Bowen did his work more energetically perhaps than the other two, and in the course of the 37th mile he placed another lap to their credit, a performance which he repeated shortly after the next mile had been completed. This was at a few mjnutea to eleven, when he was going strong, with every prospect of improving his position, which he did by the time another mQe had been covered. In the last few minutes of the evening the spectators were treated to a nice exhibition of walking,. Bowen doing his best to get away, and Scott keeping beside him until the last lap, when he finished a few feet behind his opponent. The score stood—Combination, 3d miles 10 laps; Scott, 33 miles 4 laps, or 1 mile 6 laps behind. The last ten laps took 7rain 2sec. The distance done in the evening by the Combination was 19 miles 1 lap* of which McCourt did 6 miles 1 lap, Muhliesen o miles 5 laps, aud Bowen (i miles 8 laps.
