Fires In the city are indicated by the following tolls for the different wards :— North-west ward ... 1 toll North-east ward ... ... 2 tolls South-east ward ... ... 3 tolls ■■■ South-westward... ... ; 4 tolls The dividing streets of the city are Worcester and Colombo. The railway horn gives three blasts a fire in Christchurch, and .two for afire n Sydenham.
