Monday, November 26. Before C. Hansen, Esq., Mayor, and G. H. Black well, Esq. J Cattle at Large.—M. Shea was charged, on information of B. Lissaman, with allowing cattle to stray on Cam road on the 18th November. It appeared, on the evidence of Lissaman and a witness, that the cattle were being herded on the road near complainant's land. The defence was that the cows were being driven past the complainant's property to a convenient watering place, defendant stating it was daDgeroas to water his cattle at a part of the river near his own premises. The Bench referred to a former case which had been dismissed with a caution, and now inflicted floes of 5s on each information, with costs amounting to 28s. B. Lissaman was theu charged by M. Shea with allowing his horses to wander on the same road on November 13th and 28th. The evidence of complainant in this case was flatly contradicted by defendant. The Bench observed that the information for the 13th was not laid till after summoqses were taken out in thp next case, 4nft for want of evidence of the offence dismissed the case, advising the parties to try and arrange their grievances.
