fPBOM OUE COIiBBSPONDHNT.I [Bf TELEGRAPH FROM THE BUJFF.] MELBOUBNE, November 20. The ' Centennial Bifle matches have concluded, but wero not remarkable for the enceeee achieved by visitors. All the principal cdnteste were won by Victorians. The shooting, however, was spoiled on three succeeding days of the meeting by the boisterous weather. So high was the gale that as much as twenty feeb of windage had to be allowed during some matches. The New Zealanders had revenge for their somewhat poor display through* out the meeting tby handsomely beating a Victorian team in a friendly contest which had been arranged to take place. They are trying to get up a match in Sydney against a New South Wales team on their return journey. The principal < match of; the gathering was the Qneen's prize, in which the first prize was £100. The conditions were five rounds' at 300, 600, and 800 yards. It resalted in a tieu Gunner Bunting, of Williamatown, and Sergeanb Seek, of the second battalion Victoria Rifles,, scoring 57 each out of a possible 75. The baa snooting is to be accounted for by the wind. Gunner Weir and Lieutenant Boss, of New Zealand, each scored 60, be.ing 25tb and 27fch on the lists, and Sergeant McCarthy, of Dunedin, was low down with 4a In the National Mutual Life Association Match 2nd the New Zealanders were well up. The first prize winner was B. Dun* Stan, of Victoria, with 46 out of a> possible 60: Private Ballinger, New Zealand, waa third with 43, and Captain Skinner, Hew Zealand, fifth with 42 ; Sergeant Frederic, New Zealand, scored 41; CorporalHutdhlneon 39, and Sergeant McCarthy, Auckland, iSB. In npne of the other matches did the New Zealanders reach the top of the tree. In the match, New Zealand v Victoria, the totals were—New Zealand, 1609; Victoria, 1654. The highest scorer for New Zealand was Sergeant McCarthy, Dunedin, with 01. and the lowest Private Watt, (53; while for Victoria the highest wee Sergeant Mawson 88, and the lowest Private Buley 62.
