LARCENY OF SHEEPSKINS.
A man named Donald McPherson wa* charged before the Resident Magistrate at Timaru on Saturday with stealing three fleeced sheepskins, value 12s, and one sack, value Is, the property of Edward Elworthy. The evidence showed that accused and his wife are employed as married couple on Mr Elworthy's station. Accused had been . ongnged in carting skins into Timaru for delivery to merchants. He offered the throe ekius in question to J. Levien. barman at the Club Hotel, but was not paid for them. He said they did not cost him anything, so he would not charge for them. Levien, on hearing that the police were engaged on some wool stealing cases, communicated with them, and gave up the skins, which still bore the station marks. Accused on being arrested admitted that he had taken the skins, and had been a fool for doinj? sp. His Worship fined him 20s and 12s costs.
