FIRE AT ROTORUA.
THE SANATOBIUM DESTBOYED. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] . WELLINGTON, November 24. The Secretary of the General Post Office has received a telegram stating that the Botorua Sanatorium was totally destroyed by fire at half-past ten last night. No lives" were lost. AUCKLAND, November 24. The Star correspondent states by the burning of Eotorua Hospital, last night, the Government loses .£SOOO. Ihe patients were rescued with difficulty. One man broke his leg in escaping. A good water supply was available, but the fire plug could not be found. Mrs Taylor, matron, and patients lose heavily. Lates. The Government have received the following telegram from Dr. Ginders, medical officer in charge at Eotorua:—"Sanatorium buildings and Maori hospital totally destroyed by fire last night at 10.30. Patients all right; nothing saved; outbuildings, doctor's house and blue bath uninjured. The fire originated in the kitchen. The cause is unknown at present. A strong southerly gale spread the fire with immense rapidity.
