HORSES.

In the section for draught horses the exhibition was very good aud interesting. The prize for the best Clydesdale stallion fell to Mr M. Macfarlane's Coldstream, Mr Choak's Blue Diamond second, changing places with last year; the others exhibited being Prince of Windsor, highly commended, and Vanquisher. The three-year-old prize went to Messrs Henderson and Mcßeath's Young Taieri Tom, a well topped horse, Mr Wyllie'e Eldorado second. From the four entries of brood mares, Mr Kelly's Heather Belle, a well-known mare, was justly first, Mr Smith's Bonny second. There was only a single entry in classes for three - year-old gelding, filly and two-year-old filly. For yearling colts four splendid animals were shown by Messrs Smith, Scoone, Smith and Wylhe, Mr Scoone's exhibit, by Argyle, being first. Out of five entries, the prize for vearttng filly was awarded to Mr MacfarlaWs bay Taieri Tom, Mr Stevenson's bay, by Pur» Diamond, second. by Mr Macfariane's team, Fanny, with Fanny Fern and Coldstream, the three being a very grand exhibit. There were ninecapitalentries for maxe or gelding, which went to Fanny Fern, Black Bess, bred by Mr Macfarlane, being second; a handsome gelding Billy, owned by Mr R. Fleming, was highly commended, aud Mr Mclntosh'sDick highly commended. For blood entires there were three exhibits, in which Mr W. C. Nicholls's Hornby, which we considered a good horse at the late parade, was placed first, it being a very close question for the Judges to decide in comparison with Bundoora, the latter a horse full of quality and style. In the brooj mare*, Mr Mclntosh's Maid of Honor, by Traducer, was placed first, Mr Duncan's Mor, by Korari, second. A nice conditioned filly, shown by Mr Croft, took the two-year-old prize, Mr Duncan's yearling.by Bundoora, taking the prizes for yearling fillies. In the hackneys there were Darlinghurst, H.R.H., and Balderdash, each of which was up in condition, the former taking the fancy of the Judges. Mr Butler's g m Polly «as much the best in the brood mare class, Mr Mcßae's Prairie second. In the three-year-old fillies and geldings, Mr Buss' eh c Baujo was easily first, Mr Liggetfc's neat gelding Thorntopper second, Mr Starkey's black filly Corinthian second. In roadsters, a class of six, Mr Pashby's Black Doctor was first, Mr Parnham's eh g Chester and pie. .g being second and highly commended There were four excellent lady's horses, of which Mr Butler's Lettie was first. In hacks, fifteen hands, Mr Blunden's Perfection, a chestnut gelding, with a good deal of style, was first. Iv carriage stock, there was a splendid show, forming quite the feature of the afternoon. In entires, Mr Topp's Boomerang and Mr Lukey's Trojan were respectively awarded hrsfc and second. Mr Mcßae took the brood mare t>rLze with Miss Donald, bred at Wauj<aiiui; Mr Tuttou's Liuda, a Tradncer, second. J In two-year-old carriage stock, Mr Skevington's eh geld] ing, by Performer, took the honors, Mr Wyllie's, by Chancellor, second. T ere were three* American trotters, and Mr U. F. Recce's clever stepper Emerson, by Kerlin, gained the award. Mr Nicholl's b f, by Bundoora, in class for two-year-old fillies* was a very promising animal. In class for mares ana geldings, uot under fifteen and a-half hands. Mr J. Fulton's Madam displayed splendid pace, and it was a hard matter to decide the prize as compared with Mr E. Chapman's gay b g Britou, a horse with plenty of showy action, and apparently good fora distance. There was great iuteresb manifested in the trial of Duyigy mares aud geldings under fifteen andu half hands, which was taken by a beautiful mover shown by Mr C. J. Penfold, the second beinu Mr Walter Chapman's Dolly. The former also toofe the award for the best cob. Mr E. H. K. nefs prize for the best dog cart horse brought seven entries, and Mr T. Chapman's bay gelding Jack proved the winner. The four tandem teams of Messrs Fulton, Starkey, T. Chapman, and J. Hurse were very good, and though Mr Starkey with Gunpowder and Lounger guinea the award, it was a matter of choice with Mr T. Chapman's turn out. The carriers' „ horses was a limited class. In ponies "Mr McTntosh's Santa Claus led the entire parade, Mr Preece's Ali Baba, an exceedingly smart pony, being put second. In Other Ponies Mr Threlkeld's Thyme and Laburnum came out well. From the entries of boys' ponies Mr Maddison , Queen was first, Mr C. Dampier-Crossley's Shiela second. The ponies were a very smart lot, and so also were the riders. Mr T. McDonald's Slipper was head of the polo list, with Mr Dampier-Crossley's Delirium second. PIGS. A strong show of Berkshire pigs was made, D Auvergne Bros, taking the prizes in boars, as well as for aged and young sows, against Messrs Clarkson and Patterson. ' r J. Brown was also a prizetaker. The Yorkshire was represented by exhibits from Mr J. Rowe. In the litters Mr Brown was as last year the winner of he prize, and Mr Bramley for three splendid porkers.
