Thursday, November 1. [Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., R.M.] Druin-kexness.—For a first offence of this nature a woman was fined ss, or in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Civtl Cases.—N. Gitley vA. P. O'Callaghan, claim £92 17s Gd on judgment summons. Mr Hoban for the plaintilT, Mr Kuseell for the defendant. The debt was contracted, and had been owing for three or four years, for wages due to plaintiff; who had been in the employment of the defendant. The plaintiff swore that defendant, who did not attend, was a M.H.R. and a member of the Land Board, and had private means also. Plaintiff sometime ago put a bailiff , in, but was induced to withdraw on a promise that hjs claim would be settled, and his interest not prejudiced in the meantime. He found, however, since that the effects on which he had levied had melted away, and he had not been paid. Defendant received an honorarium as a member of Parliament and fees as a member of the Land Board and, plaintiff believed, was able to pay. An order was made for payment on or before November sth, or in default three months' imprisonment, on the ground that defendant did not appear and sufficient reason for his absence had not been given. Lee v Free, claim £50, for value of personal effects and damages for their detention. Mr Bowman for plaintiff, Mr Leatham for defendant. The parties were lodger and hotelkeeper. Plaintiff was nonsuited with costs, on the ground that defendant had a lien on them. Judgments went for plaintiffs by default with costs in Crosby v Blake (costs), £1 Us, and Pyne and Co. v Bagnall, £5.
