THE BUCKEYE AGAIN VICTORIOUS.

FIRST FIELD TRIAL THIS SEASON.

IMPORTANT HONOURS.

The first actual field trial of reapers and binders in Australia this season has just been held at Balaclava (S.A.) on the 24th instant. The weather being flne and harvesting operations not yet in full force, there was a large attendance of farmers, who shewed a great deal of interest in the contest. The entries included Hornsby, Woods, Buckeye, Howard and others, and although the details of the competition are not yet known, the result has been cabled as folio w«:—" Buckeye first, beating Hornsby, Woods, Howard and others. This decision is a fitting corroixtration of the action of the judges at Shepparton in re-awarding the grand nation*! gold medal of Victoria to the Buckeye upon the result of ac ual trial in crop, instead of allowing it to be handed over to the Hornsby, to whom it was given at the grand national show preceding the trial. The Buckeye wa3 also successful last season in taking the South Australian Government's award at the Roseworthy Royal Agricultural College's field trial, beating the McCorrnack, Hornsby, Woods, Howard and others. The following cables, referring to two of the principal agricultural and pastoral shows of Australia, will also be of service to buyers desirous of securing the best and most efficient harvesting machinery : — "Buckeye first at Echuca, beating McCormack, Hornsby, Wood, Massey, Deering and all competitors, all the principal makers represented, and again on the 26th inst." "Goulburn Valley and North Eastern Agricultural and Pastoral Show, Buckeye first, Woods second, McCormack third, beating Hornsby, Deering, Massey and others." The Buckeye Elevator Binder will be exhibited at the Metropolitan Agricultural and Pastoral Show at Addington next week, and will well repay a visit. The Buckeye Lowdown will also be exhibited at the same show.
