FIRE ALARMS.
Fires in the city are indicated by the following tolls for the different wards:— North-west ward _. 1 toll North-east ward ... ... 2 tolls South-eastward... ... 3 tolls South-west ward... ... 4 tolls The dividing streets of the city are Worcester and Colombo. The railway horn gives three blasts for a fire in Christchurch, and two for a fire n Sydenham.
