Wednesday. Fairly large entries of all Kinds of stock, weather very fine, attendance above the average. Fat Cattlk.—A moderate entry, quality varied, a few lines very prime. Demand not very active, last week's values abou ruling, if anything a shade easier. Heavy steers sold at from £7 to £10 ss; medium, weights, £510s to £5 16s; heifers and fat cows, £4 to £6 7s 6d, being at from 17s to 20s per 1001b. Messrs Matson and Co. sold on account Mr P. Dairy Cattle—A numerous entry, with a slack demand. Values easier. Fat Sheep—A pretty fall market, quality varied, principally good, a fairly good number of shorn sheep being sent forward. The inquiry was moderately active from both local and buyers for export, and the decline of last week was fully recovered, second quality sheep participating more particularly in the recovery. The heaviest crossbreds sold at from 16s to 19s, and as high as 20s per head, lighter weights 12s 3d to 14s 6d. Shorn wethers sold at from 10s 3d to 12s 6d, do ewes 8s to 10s 3d, merino wethers at from 8s 6d to 13s 2d, being at from 2Jd to folly 3d per lb for mutton in the wool, and for shorn do 2d to 2£d per lb, according as the quality varied. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company sold, for Buccleuch estate, 25 merino wethers at 13s 3d, 50 do at 12s 6d, and 25 do at 12s sd; for Mr A. McLachlan, Leeston, 105 four and sixtooth half bred wethers at 17s, and 15 halfbred ewes at 15s 6d. Miesana c. Newton and Son sold, on account Mr J. O. Crossbred hoggets sold at from IDs Id to lls 3d, crossbred ewes and lambs to 12s 6d, and a line of merino ewes and lambs at lls 2d. Pise—A small entry; an active demand, late values being well maintained. Porkers up to 3jd per lb.
