AUSTRALIAN NOTES.

SYDNET, September 20. Ganymede and Cinaron have been scratched for the Metropolitan Stakes.
The veather was foggy this morning, but the usual number of horses were working at Randwick. Volley and Aberdeen covered a mile fast,, but did not finish in their usual style. Matador was sent a sharp mile, and Abercorn beat Carlyon in a spin over the game distance. Plutarch and Pearlshell were treated to strong work,' but the latter did not appear to finish well. 'Frisco galloped a mile and a half, going in something like his old form. Wycoinbe, Touchstone, Bonnie; Spec, First Flaneur, and The Jewel did good useful work. The Australian Peer was given a fast mile and a quarter, and his gallop was put down as the performance of the morning. Arsenal was sent a fast round. Lady Marion, Phaon, and The Gift were treated to a mile at a fair pace, the latter having the best of the gallop. Grey wing put in an excellent mile and a quarter in company with Theorist. In a mile and three furlongs Essay and The Queen beat Honeydew all the way. Aristocrat went a strong exercise gallop. Lamond did stroug work once round and appears to be very well. Dunlop has been scratched for both Melbourne and Caulfield Cups. Received September 21st, 1.5 a.m. SYDNEY, September 20. Abercorn and Lamond are now first favorites for the Metropolitan at 5 to 1 and 6to 1 respectively. Honeydew is easier at Bto 1. There is very little betting. Three to one is wanted about Carbine for the Melbourne Derby, and 100 to 30 is offered against Volley.
