A return has been compiled showing th« Customs revenue collected during a series of twelve monthly periods ending 30th September. The imports for similar twelve monthly periods are of lower value than in any twelve idbnths since 18S0, and are less by _707,05_, £~_1.,750 and £_,S_UOO respectively than for the three" previous years, lor the same periods the "value of exports for the year ended September 30tb was £7,044,237, being the largest for years, and £Sl9,_oa in excess of the imports; The net increase siuce last year in New Zealand produce is £5."i5,_&_; wools also showing an increase of £700,1.5 on the previous year, or at the rate of nearly 27 per cent. The increase iv the weight of wool exported is 7 per cent., so that about £_00.U0O represents the increase in weight, and £..0,000 improvement i» value.
