ANOTHER SUICIDE IN WELLINGTON.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.]
WELLINGTON, November 6.
Mrs Amelia Martin, wife of Mr J.Martin, landlord of the City Hotel, committed suicide late last night or early this morning.' For some time past Mrs Martin has given way to intemperate habits and often threatened she would end her life by taking poison. At midnight Mrs Martin informed her daughter, twelve years of age, that she had taken " Rough on Rats.'' The child, however, took no notice of her, but at the same time noticed that the parcel of that particular poison bad been temoved from the shelf. Mr Martin, who occupied a separate room, spoke to her at one this morning, but the latter said nothing of having taken poison. At seven this morning Mrs Martin was found dead in bed. OnTier dressing table was a glass containing traces of "Rough on rats," while the empty box which had contained the poison was found in the drawer in her room. Much sympathy is expressed for Mr Martin, who formerly lived in the Hawke's Bay district, and is well known in sporting circles as formerly owner of several racehorses.
