Messrs ■ I Anson and Saunders expressed their , I willingness to attend, and the Secretary was instructed to write to that effect. The report of the Building Committee was read and adopted. In reference to the action of the Orphanage Committee with regard to sending the children to the public school at Lyttelton, the Chairman said that a conference had beem held between the Board's Committee appointed for that purpose and the Orphanage Committee, but no final decision had been arrived at. Mr BowiN said what had been settled was that the Board was bound to make provision for the children if they were sent. It did not matter, in fact, where the children came from, they were bound by the Act tojaccommodate them. It was not for them to discuss the advbafeility of the step at all. The Committee had put the question whether ox not the children were to be sent, and the answer ■was that they were. It now remained for the Board to find out when they were coming and their number. Afterwards the' requisite accommodation wouli be provided. At first perhaps it would be ; advisable to lease a room or make other. temporary arrangements. They had had a warning that an influx of children might be expected, and it was their duty to prepare for it. The Board then went into Committee, and on resuming adjourned.
