■The fourth annual general meeting of Educational Institute of North Canterbury Jfe began yesterday afternoon at the rmal School, Mr G. The suggestion #*8 very favorably received, and the two .subjects made alternative. The thanks of phe Institute were due to the Secretary for his courtesy to the deputation. The esse of Oscar Johnston had the Committee felt, peculiarly called for the intefecence of the Institute as protector of teachers. Legal assistance had been secured, both on behalf of the Institute and Mr Johnston, and the Committee confidently expected that the Institute would take a large view of its responsibilities is such cases.
