EYRETON.

The monthly meeting was held' on February 2nd,1886. Present—Messrs Elder (Chairman), Bailey, Hopkins, and Pasbby. Leave of absence was giren to Mr Evans. The following letters were read :•—From Mr J. Andrews, thanking the Board for the action taken to secure a light trafS*bridge over the Waimakariri. From Mr A. Whitcford,!with reference to the willows cat along the Ohoka creek. From Mr M. Dixon, re Willow drain outlet, in answer to the letter sent by the Board requesting him to clear away the bank along the western ride of same; also objecting to Eyre bank being made higher from Wood's to Edmotid'e road. Mr F. Baker applied for Inglefield creek to be cleared thzoojrh part of Gardiner's land, and was informed that if Mr Gardiner signed the osnal agreement to keep' the creek .clean the' wock would be done. From Mr B. Bice, requesting' he Board to put in a culvert across Grigg's road where the old pipes were taken out j also fo have those across Wyattfa road, near his house, looked to, as he believed they were stopped. Mr Pashby proposed, seconded by Mr Hopkins—" That the Surveyor take the level of the bottom of the ditches on each side of Grieg's road, and report at next meeting; also, to do what waanecessary to the pipes across Wyatt's road." Mr Faehby brought uncter the notice of the Board the desirability of a horse and trolley being procured for the uaeof toe Board's workmen. Mr Bailey proposed, and Mr Hopkins seconded—"That the matter bo considered at a full meeting ofthe Board." Carried. The Clerk was directed to write to the Chairman of the Waimakariri Harbor Board recommending that Mr Thomas Faehby be appointed to represent the Eyreton Dietriot; also, to write to the Eailway Engineer to request that the post and crossing board at the turn in the Mill road be removed, and the cattle traps be shifted oft the roadway. Meesrs Bailey and Hopkins recommended that a few loads of shingle be put in the low place on the formation of the twochain road near Mr Dailey'n house, and the side channel lowered from DoileyY galeway to the creek, before winter. _ The Surveyor was directed to have the work done; also to have the lower part of Grigg'e road dram cleaned out as far ac the Board are liable to do the work. The Begistxar of Dogs waa directed to visit each house in the district and fill up the register form for every dog found on the premises, with a view to compel registration. The Bate Collector was directed to cue f«r all unpaid rates forthwith. There being only one tender sent in to rent the old Eoad Board office at Eyretoa, Mr Fashby proposed, and Mr Baily seconded— "That the time for sending in offers bo extended until next meeting." Carried. Mr proposed, and Mr Bailey seconded—" That the pay-sheet, amounting to £99 6s 9d, be passed for payment." Carried. .
