THE BANFFSHIRE.

The barque Banffshire, Captain Swiaton, arrived from Calcutta yesterday with a cargo composed ohiefly of cornsacks. She was seventy-five clear days on the passage, rather a lengthy one for a ship of the Banffshire's build, but explained by ,the fact Of her meeting with what must have been to the master a most discouraging continuation of calms or the lightest winds. The vessel was built but four years ago on the Clyde, to the order of T. Lowe and Co, and judging from her lines she should be able to hold her own with the general run of iron ships. She is officered by Mr Allan, •chief, formerly here in the barque Selim, Mr Carnie, second, who are to be complimented ■upon the cleanly and well-cared for condition is which the vessel was when she brought up off Shodes' Bay. She left Bangor Island on October SSth, the pilot going ashore at 3 p.m, that day. The whole road through the Bay of Bengal had nothing but light airs, crossed the Equator on November 12th, in 89.10 eait longitude, and had no better luck through the Indian Ocean. On December 16th crossed the Leuwin meridian in 45.16 S-, having previously gone to 53 south looking for winds. Crossed the meridian of Tasmania on December 25th, and made the Snares on Sunday last. Banks' Peninsula on Thursd y, and anchored as above. Mr C. W. Turner, the agent, gives elsewhere the usual notice to consignees, having' had the vessel berthed at No. 3 Jetty directly Dr. Macdonalo, the Health Officer, had cleared her.
