EAST CHRISTCHURCH v SOUTH CANTERBURY.
The second annual match between these . two clubs came off yesterday at Lancaster Park. The weather was delightful for football. There was no wind of any consequence, and the atmosphere was nice and cow. The southerners played one man but their extra weight and strength stood them in good stead against their ught opponents. The two teams dined together at the Lancaster Park Hotel at noon. Play commenced at two o'clock. Owing to the cricket match having to proceed, the game was played in one speU « forty-five minutes and another of twentynve. Beed (South Canterbury, blue and «d) won the toss and selected the east goal, wnith, the E C.F.C. skipper (yeUow and bla__),li__edoff and the play became generals nangst the forwards. The Blues kicked out, and Woe good play was shown by Beid, jßpbertß, Sheppard, Lough for the Blues. \** YeUo wa' forward, aided by Wilson (2), **»ck, Fooks, and Kesteven, again carried *he baU down their opponents' line, where Baynor kicked a goal.
