STATISTICS OF CRIME.
The list of offences committed in Canter bury during last year has been drawn up. It shows an important decrease from the totals of the previous year in nearly all the more important classes of wrong doing , , as will be Been by reference to the subjoined table. In considering the total the fact should be borne in mind that although nominally for Canterbury, it includes offences committed in parts of Marlborongh and Nelson provinces, our police district running up to the Kaikouras and the Waiau.
