rapidly and at the same time play truer 6 -P-Bowe will be an acquisition to the Park's second eleven, and should in time make a rattling good bat. Mr WUding gave nearly aU the available talent a chance w rththebaU,butmanyofthetrundlers l found peat difficulty in getting at tbe "sticks,* for a© wicket was a perfect batsman's, and very Uttle could be done with the baU. Messrs Wilding, Pocock, and Dunlop, appeared to be about the best on the "spot." The Eleven certainly had not much time to bat, but what little there was, Messrs Hargreaves and J. Taylor, the two first men, made the most of, and appeared to relish the bowling opposed to them most heartily. Both men drove very hard, Taylor particularly opening his shoulders on the off side. The foUowing are the scores:—

THE MIDLAND CLUB. The Midland Club opened with a match, last year's eleven v aU comers, the latter I being put in, and after thirty of them had , done battle but 88 runs was the result, a very poor attempt, considering the wicket was a good one. Mr Dudney, a new man to fame here, having but recently arrived from Sussex, played a good innings for 20. Mr Goss also totted up 13 in fair form, and Mr HaUey, another new member to the Club, promises weU, and should turn ont a useful change bowler. He has a nice easy deUvery, with a fair length and a Uttle break back. Barnes, BeU, Bow, i and Washer each had a try with the baU, the first-mentioned man doing the 1 most execution, taking fourteen wickets. The others averaged about three wickets each. As the Ust of .names of those who went in is so long, and the number of "ducks" made so large; and, moreover, not wishing to hurt the feelings of the " unfortunates," we refrain from publishing the score.
