OTAGO AGRICULTUAL SHOW.

[Br __xsa__u?_:.] DUNEDIN, December 3. The fourth show of this Association was held to-day, when the judging of cattle, theep, asd implements was proceeded with. The weather was splendid, and there was a pod attendance on the ground. The exhibits Stowed an increase on those of last year; bring 835 as against 740. The arrangements of tho committee were excellent. The horses, dairy produce, and New Zealand manufactures wiU be judged this day (Saturday), and sho-l- the weather continue tine a large coneoursa of visitors may bo expected on the

grounds. -here were forty entries in the shorthorn classes. In aged bulls Mr John Shenan's &, Andrew was first; New Zealand and innSralian Land Company second. Three-yesr-olds—Mr John Beid's Earl of Brunswick, m& by Sir A. Gardiner, of Victoria, list. Two-year.old class—New Zealand sad Australian Land Company's Earl of Ihunswiek 2nd first and the champion oupfor best bull of any age; Mr David Granton's I_d of Brunswick, seoond; and Mr E. Men--re's Christmas Knight third. This bull was first in his class at Christchurch, and was awarded the champion as the best bull of any age at the same show. For yearlings, Mr S. Menlove's Earl of Brunswick was awarded Mat prize. This animal attracted a large share cf attention. Mr J. Beid's Lord Bed Eos? 2nd was second and the N.Z. and LA. Company's third. Best shorthorn cow or h_fer of any age, Mr James Shand's Wild Seso 2nd first; Mr E. Menlove's Queen Mary second. Heifer, three years, Mr E. Kerlove's Flower of Brunswick 2nd, two /&_rs, first; Mr E. Menlove's Lady Jane, second. yearling, Mr E. Menlove's Queen Mary, first and champion cup of any age. The Ayrshire classes were all filled and formed suite a feature of the show. Mr James -unnell secured the principal prises, also the chs-ipion ioup for the best bull and tha best cow of any age in tbe Ayrshire class. Messrs J. MoFarlane and W. 1» Clarke wore also prizetakers. In fat cattle Mr Jas. Shand secured the greatest number of i_9 prizes awarded. In merino sheep Messrs Marray, Boberts and Co. were the principal «3_ibitors, and secured the champion cup as the largest prizetakers. The long woolled | elsees were well filled, especially ewes. The Xineoin class was the finest lot of sheep ever ] brought together on the show grounds, being the first pri-etakers for Christchurch, Timaru ; _g_ Oamaru. The judges expressed themalvea greatly pleased with the exhibits, and fs__& much difficulty in giving their awards. _& P. E. Bussell was the largeit prizetaker is the Lincoln classes, winning the twenty g-sea cup and the champion' cup for the best ~ ram of any age, also the hmt ewe. The N. Z. and A. L. Ob. ' alsc showed seme fine framed sheep, and only . hat the Champion Cap by one point. There -as only ono class for Leicester sheep, whioh ■ma a mistake, and rendered the judging a _____ task. We. would strongly recommend the committee to add a class for EngHsh I-ioesters. In Eomney Marsh sheep __• John Beid, of Eldcrslie, was the only Bhibitor, and showed some fine specimens of the type. J-heshowof implements was a poor one. Messrs Said and Gray were the principal e-__dte_*, sod secured fifteen first prizes. In the reaper and binder class, Walter A. Wood's new machine was awarded first pasts.
