BENEVOLENT AID ASSOCIATION.

The usual weekly meeting of committee was held at eleven yesterday at the Old Poet-office. Present—Hie Worship the Mayor of Ghristchurob, Messrs W. R. Mitchell (hon. sec.), W. H. Har/jreavee, John Ollivier, H. W. Paoker, J. Qr. Hawkes, W. Pratt, and H. Thomson. The Mayor reported the bank balance to be £347s 6i. He had received a donation of £2 from "Alpha," and also had much pleasure in informing the committee that Mc George v GouH had, with hie wellknown liberality, presented £10 worth of drapery, and requested him (the Mayor) to select the necessary articles to that amount from Messrs Radcliffe and Joughin'e estab. lishment. In oompany with Mr W. B. Mitchell and Mrs Innes he had secured very good value. Mr Binstead had remitted an account due to him of 16s as a donation. The sum of 4d was found in the donation box. The caretaker's report etated that, in addition to the foregoing, Mr Hansmann had given a ton of coals, and Mr Olark, of Kilmore street, had sent some second-hand clothing. Goods had been received from:—Messrs Ballantyne and Co., 2 rolls flannel; Hobday and Co., 86J- yards calico; Mr J. T. Brown, 2 tons coal; Messrs Hopkins find Co., Lasgdon and Jadge, Hall and Couiens/ Rosewarne, Gulliford, and Greig wtf Moore had supplied stock meat during the %eek. The week's relief had been:—Coals, 23 bags, potatoes, 17£baj;e; flannel, 96 yards; boots, 23 pairs; blankets, 13; calico, 53 yards ; oatmeal, 341b5.; rice, 131bs; sago, 251bs; bread, 13J 4lb loaves and soup, 14 gallons daily; also a quantity of grocery and olothiDg. The relief sheet showed:.—lst relief, 14; 2nd do., 10; 3rd d 0.,6; 4th do, 10j sth do., 7; 7th do., 1,Total, 48. The house expenditure was £2 12s 2d. The requirements were—Goals', rice, oatmeal, flour, barley, and. peas. The report was adopted. Accounts for £18 10a 6dwere passed for payment! It was decided to apply for a list of the men who had refused to accept piece work on the different Public Works, with a view to prevent their imposing on the association for relief, and -also to advertise. that it would be useless for the parties so refusing to expect any aid from the association.
