In the matter of a Bill intituled an Act to' amend the Malvern Waterßace Transfer Act, 1878. \TOTTC]- is hereby given that application "JLJI is intended to be made at the next Session of the General Assembly of New Zealand by. the Selwyn County Council for leave to introduce a Bill to amend the Malvern Water Bace Transfer Act, 1878, and to enable the said Council, by special order, to mako and levy a pedal rate on all rateable property within the district for the purpose of see-ring the repayment of the monieß to be borrowed aa therein mentioned with interest. From time to

time, as occasion may require, to borrow and take np at interest any sum or sums of money not exceeding..-, the whole the sum of fifty thousand pounds on the security of the said rate, for the purpose of constructing completing, extending, enlarging, repairing, and maintaining the said water race and the works connected therewith, and of otherwise oarrvins i into effect the provisions of tbe said Malvern Water Bace Transfer Act, 1878, and for paying all expenses incidental to the raising and borrowing of sach monies. To secure to the lender or lenders of such monies tbe re-payment thereof, with interest, by debentures to be issued under the authority of this Act. To pay and apply the net proceeds of the said rate in manner following, that is to say .— Firstly—ln payment of the interest on the sum or sums of money to be borrowed. Secondly—ln providing a Binking fund for the re-payment of the principal of such monies. Thirdly—ln maintaining the said water race. Notice is hereby farther given that copies of the proposed Bill may pa obtained at the offices of Messieurs Joynt and Perceval, Solicitors, Christchurcb, .and at the following places:— Selwyn County Council offices, Christchurch. East Malvern Boad Board office. Courtenay Boad Board office. The following are the boundaries of the district referred to in the above-named Bill:—All that area of land situate in the. provincial district of - Canterbury,. and estimated to contain by admeasurement one hundred and twenty-nine -thousand .acres,: bounded as follows— Commencing at the' lower month of the Malvern Water Bace tunnel, thence by a line in a northeasterly direction to the top of the Kowai terrace at the West Coast road, cutting thence

along the top of the terrace down tha Kowai and Waimakariri rivers to the north east angle of R.S. 3635, thence along the east boundary of the said section to the north side of the West Coast read, thence along the north side of the aaid road to the west boundary of the Templeton road district, thence along the said boundary to the north side of the railway 'line, thence along aide the north aide of the railway line .to the river Selwyn, thence along the east bank of the Selwyn and Hawkins rivers to the Dalethorpe road, thence along the east side of the road forming the east boundary of R.S, 5802, and south east boundaries of sections P990,5991, 5992, 10740, and 13632 to its junction with the Tramway Reserve, thence along the south Bide of the Tramway Reserve to tbe Malvern Water Race, thence along the water race to the commencing point. Notice is hereby given that the following amended description of the distriot referred to in the above-named Bill, is intended to be substituted for that given above, viz :— All that area of Land situate in the provincial district of Canterbury, and estimated to contain by admeasurement 89.525 acres, bounded as follows :—Commencing at the south corner of R.S. 4708, thence along the eastern boundary of R.S. 4708 to the lower Waimakariri road, thence along the southern boundary line of the road to the north-east corner of R.S. 15744, thence along the eastern boundary of the said section to the north corner of R.S. 17637, thence along the north boundary of R.S. 17637 and south boundary of R.S. 14865 to the Racecourse hill and Bleakhouse road, thence along_the southern boundary of the road to tie north-west corner of R.S. 14866, thence along its western boundary of R.S 14866 to the northern boundary of R.S. 18489, thence along the northern boundaries of R.B. 18489, Reserve 1329, R.S. 10233,14691, 14970,16237,12285,12289, 14854, 14517, 8995, 9135,10181, 3743, and the eastern boundary of R.S. 3743 to the Homebush road, thence along the north boundary of the Homebush road to the Kirwee road, thence along the east boundary of the Kirwee road to the north-west corner*

R.S. 8894, thence along the north boundaries of R.S. 8894, 8866. 8989, 6721 to the public road, thence along the northern boundary line of the public road to the south-west corner of R.S. 5782, thence along the eastern boundary of the Sandy Knolls road to the south-west corner of 8.8. 6467, thence along thenorth boundary of the road to the south-west corner of R.S. 20658, thence along the east boundary of the road to the south-west corner of BeServe 1455,: thence along, the. south-western boundary of Reserve, 1455 and B.S. 2-6*47, thence along the east Bide of the public road to the north corner of R.S. 7743, thence along the south-west boundary of Reserve 720 and R.S. 8163 and 7795. thence along,.the south-eastern, boundary of 7795 and 7569 and the north-eastern boundary of R.S. 4962 to the north side of the Railway Reserve, thence along the northern boundary of the Railway Reserve to the east corner of B.S. 4256, thence along the south boundary of the publio read np the bank of tbe Selwyn river to the south-east corner of R.S. 15024, and thence along the sonth boundary of the road to the north corner of R.S. 16011, thence along the east boundary of the road to the bank of the river Hawkins, thence along the left bank of the river Hawkins to the west corner of R.S. 4460, thence along the north boundary of R.S. 4460 aud west and north boundaries ot 15106 to the Malvern Railway Reserve, thence along the west boundary of the Railway Reserve to a point opposite to the' commencing point, and thence across the Reserve to the commencing point.
