Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any Telegraph Office by NOON of the same date, provided written tenders in due form are lodged at any of the above-named offices by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some Bank in the town .where the tender is lodged; such cheque to be specially marked by a Banker as good for twenty-one days, and to be in favour of .the Receiver-General's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. APPLICATIONS will be received at this office from persons desirous of hiring a DIAMOND ROCK-BORING MACHINE, capable of boring at various angles a core of 1| inch diameter to a f depth, of 1500 feet, with all Bteam appliances complete, accompanied by an engineer in charge and assistants, at the price of— 10s per foot for the first 100 feet or any part of 100 feet bored. 12s 6d do second do do 15s do third do do 17s 6i do fourth do do 21s do fifth do . do 25s do sixth do do 30s do seventh do. do 35s do eighth do do 40s do ninth do do 45s do tenth < do do and upon the following conditions :— 1. After one thousand feet special rates will be ©barged. 2. All applications must be accompanied by a deposit of £50 for the first hundred or any less number of feet bored. Further payments to be made monthly, upon a fixed day, according to the above scale, as the work proceeds. 3. The scale of charges is exclusive of fuel and water, which will be supplied by the hirer. 4. The hirer will be at the charge of einking and protecting any shaft which may be necessary for finding the rock before boring operations commence, and the measurement of depth bored will be from the surface of the rock. 5. The hirer to find covering-shed for the machinery. 6. The engineer in charge will deliver to the hirer an accurate account of the depths of the borings, and all cores of rooks bored will be the property of the hirer. 7. The machine will be removed if the hirer causes any unreasonable delays or obstacles to prevent its continuous working, or if'payment for its hire is not regularly made. By order.
