There is a good demand for compressed corned beef, the supplies being hardly hardly equal to requirements. A shipment of compressed mutton has lately arrived from Australia, the flavor of which is very good, and the price about the same as boiled mutton. The arrivals of fresh meat from America are still large, and prices are rather easier. Bank rate, 2 per cent.
