The tallow market has been firm, and the value of Australian tallow has advanced 9d to Is. The value to-day of good to fine New Zealand mutton being 34e to 35s 3d, and beef tallow 32s to 32s 9d per cwt. At the public sales to-day 906 casks were sold, making the present stock about 7000 casks. Hides continue in request at fully late rates. PRESERVED HEATS. There has been a very fair demand for all sizes of boiled beef, but mutton is neglected, small tins being scarce. There is a good demand for compressed corned beef, the supplies being hardly hardly equal to requirements. A shipment of compressed mutton has lately arrived from Australia, the flavor of which is very good, and the price about the same as boiled mutton. The arrivals of fresh meat from America are still large, and prices are rather easier. Bank rate, 2 per cent.
