There was fair competition for good beef, really prime quality fetching from 27s 6d to 30s per lOOlbs. fat CalTes—32 were yarded, and disposed of at S2e to 30s each. Fat Sheep—Tha unusually large -supply of 3436 came to hand, all crossbred*, with the.exception of a small draft of magnificent qnality merinos from the Weihao estate, Booth Canterbury, which were gold at 9s to 9s 3d each- A draft of crossbreds from the same property fetched lQs 6d each. Store Sheep—There are buyers for ! good crossbred wethers end for crossbred ewes in lamb, but no transactions to report. Wool. —As prices offered did not come np to owner's ideas of value only a few bales changed hands. Sheepskins.—Fnll market rates were obtained. Merinos, from Iβ 6d-to 3s 6d ; cross-breds, Is6d to Ss 2dj pelts, Sd to lids 'lambskins, Is to Iβ 4d. Tallow, no demand; sto-jks heavy. Hides, 3d per lb. for pood. In the grain market wheat is in good demand, and a few prime samples are offering. Prime miffing, 3s 7d <to SslOd; medium quality, 3a 4d to3s6d. There :is no improvement In the market for oats, and from advices from Melbourne in* t to hand there appears little prospect of better prices for some time. ;~Qood samples for milling are quoted at 2s Id -to 2aid; feed, la lid to2s. For bailey there is no demand, except for the finest qnality for malting.
