A POSSIBLE MINISTRY.
TO THE EDITOB 07 THB PBBSS,
Sib,—The "Lyttelton Times "is shocked at the idea of opposition to a possible Ministiy responsible to Sir G. Grey alone, or —aa your contemporary puts it—a Ministry professing the tame liberal principles as Sir Gt. Grey. A few weeks ago, when the Luckie appointment was under discussion, the " Lyttelton Times " caraf ully explained to its readers the constitutional danger of personal rule in the Cabinet. The majority ought to rule, and the Premier muat yield to the voice of the majority. But there has been a right-about-face since tbat teaching waa promulgated. Why auch a change within a few abort weeks? Why does the "Lyttelton Times " take such pains now to prove an exactly contrary view of constitutional principle? Now, the " Lyttelton Times" asserts that in the Cabinet the Premier is absolute, and that other Ministers must obey or be dismissed. What does this change of face mean ? Rumour has it that the Premier intends to get rid of some of his colleagues and ia on the look-out for more obedient servants. A Ministry responsible or subservient to Sir Ct. Grey—or " professing the same liberal principles " —might be thus composed:— Sir G. Grey Mr Bees Mr J. 0. Brown MrDolautour Mr Shrim-ki
And Mr Beeves (if he can get a seat). A seventh Minister will be wanted, so Sir George will probably throw in Mr Fisher (if he caa keep bis seat). Political opinions, one way or the other, don't muoh matter to him. It ia said that Mr Barff will be called to the Legislative Council, as a further reward for past services. He might represent the Government in that House. Yours, &c., Ah Anxious Tas.atbb. -
