SPRING MEETING AT SANDOWN PARK.

SANDOWN GRAND PRIZE—RIFLE THE WINNER.

The following telegraphic report of the Sandown Grand Prize appears in.the " Turr, Field, and Farm ":— - The first important hurdle AWnt of the English racing season was decided at Sandown Park, on Wednesday last, sk_ instant, the Sandown Grand Prize, a handicap hurdle raoe of 2\ miles, over ten hurdles. It was won by Mr T. Jennings' b h Rifle, an outaider; 7 Lard Rosebery's b h First Spring finishing second, and Mr T. J. Clifford- b h Sir Hugh third. ,- In the bettiug before the start, the odds were 4 to 1 against Adwiuce, 9 to 1 against First Spring. 20 to 1 against Sir Hugh, 20 to 1 against Rifle.
