[" Anstralasian."] By telegram we learn that Mr H. 0, Miller's bk w d p Misterton, by Contango— Lina, won the Cup, beating Mr R. B. Carruther's Commerce, by Contango—Cameleon, in the deciding course. Of the previous performances of the winner we 'find that he occupied a very forward position ia tho Newmarket Champion Puppy Stakes, winning four courses in good style, and being beaten in an unlucky trial in the fifth round by the Duke of Hamilton's High Seal, who divided. The runner-up—Commerce—has also performed woli, having won three courses at the Border Union Meeting, where she got lame'J, and was the.-i put by for tho great event of the year. The position of the favorite Coomassie, was not mentioned in our telegram. It is, therefore, impossible to even conjecture how and when she got beaten; by latest advice to hand tho party immediately connected with her were very sanguine, as 8 to 1 was taken to win thousands. The wii.ner was also backed for a good round sum, 6000 to 50 being booked in one bet against Mr Miller winning tha cup with a dog of his own. Both winner and runner-np, it will be observed, arc by Contagio, and both are highly-bred greyhounds. The ill-fortune that year after year attended the representatives of the South of England coursers at Altear have quite changed, as Mr Miller's victory makes the fortrth since the spell was broken by Mr Morgan with Magnano in 1874. Dear Erin, the winner of the Parso, is also by Contango, and was one of the beat puppies of 1877. She is the property of Mr R. M. Douglas, the well-known Irish course.
