AQUATICS.

The neighborhood of the boat sheds presented a lively appearance on Saturday, both the C.R.C. and U.R.C. having a number of races fixed for that afternoon. Those in connection with the senior club consisted of Junior Pairs and Maiden Double Sculls, the course being |from Batterfield's to the corner below Cowlishaw's. The Union Club's races were for prizes presented by Mr Sandstein, over a course from Cowlishaw's to the willows below the boat sheds. Appended are the results of the various events : —- Cantebbuby Club, jtjniob PAIRS. First Heat. Swan (north bank)—C. Mann, S. L. Smith (Dunnage, cox.) "hy ... 1 Cygnet (south bank) — Templar, Dobson . (Woledge, cox.) ... 2 A capital stcrt was effected and a good race ensued to the tainery. Here Mann put on a spurt, and just before reaching Pratt's was leading by a length and a half. The Cygnet then drew up to within half a length of the leading boat, |and it looked as' though there would be a close race up tbe straight. Templar, however, who was suffering from ill-health, had to give up the contest, and Mann had it all his own way to the finish. Final Heat. S-wan (south bank) —Grierson, Boulton (Dunnage, cox.) 1 Cygnet (north bank)—C. Mann, S. L. Smith (Woledge, cox.) ' 2 Both boats got well away together, and the* race was an even one to Pratt's. On coming into the straight Grierson drew away, and was first at the winning post by a couple of lengths. * MAIDEN DOUBLE SCULLS. Swan (north bank)—G. C. Lanauze, F. Davie 1 Oygnet (south bank) —Morgan, McGlasban... 2 Lanauze got away with a lead from the start, whilst Morgan's crew met with a series of mishaps during the first quarter of a mile. On coming into the straight the Swan was leading by about two lengths, Lanauze winning easily with plenty to spare. Union Rowing Club, paib-oae baces. First Heat. Una (south bank) —Johnston, Fuller, Dunnage, cox ... 1 Scylla (north bank) —Allard, Johnston, Manning, cox ...- 2 Johnston led away from the start, and yon easily, with several lengths to spare. A capital start was effected, and for some considerable distance the boats were travelling on level terms. On reaching Stan-, more Bridge the Scylla had gained a slight lead. This position was held to the finish, Keith's crew winning a good race by a length.
