TOWN V COUNTRY.

This match, which was commenced on the 11th inst., wa_s continued on Saturday. Stevens and Conran, who had placed 12 and 17 runs to the credit of the Country, resumed their places at the wickets, to the bowling of Beard and Skelton, tbe latter of whom was allowed to play instead of J. Fowler, and was of great assistance to his Bide. Conran, by steady play, raised his score to 34 before he was caught by Jones, at long-on. No one else gave much trouble to the bowlers, and the innings closed for 160. After the usual interval, the Town went in for their second innings. Skelton and Wood were soon disposed of, but Secretan and E. Cotterill gave the field more trouble. The latter played a good innings for 41 runs, which included two fine leg hits for 5 and 4, and several very pretty cuts. H. Cotterill was in better form than he has shown this ssaeon before, and made 44 runs. When time was colled Baker and Perceval were not out with 24 and 28 to their credit. The fielding of the Country eleven was very poor. An exception must be made in favour of Conran, who kept wicket really well. The catches which disposed of Secretan, Allen, and E. Cotterill were very sharply taken. The scores are as follows:—
