THE CANTERBURY CRICKETING TOUR.

CANTEBBUBY T. BIOHMOND.

BY SUBMARINE CABLE,

[FBOM OTJB, SPECIAL COBBB6PONDENT.]

ANOTHER VICTORY FOR CANTERBURY. Mzlbottene, January 18.

The weather was comfortably cool to-day, when the match against Richmond was continued. The wicket to-day was a poor one, not playing by any means true. The bowling of the Victorian team was not nearly so good as some which the Canterbury men bave had to withstand in their other matches. In the first innings of Canterbury yesterday's score was increased by 112, chiefly by the fine playing of W. Frith, who contributed no less 54. The fielding of Biohmond was good all through. The Canterbury innings closed for 223, or 28 ahead of their opponents. After a short; interval the elder Manion and Bury took the wickets for Richmond, and both contributed double figures, being the only members of the team who did so in .the second innings. The bowling of Ashby and C. Frith in thi? innings waa steady and effective, being altogether too good to permit of quick Bcoring. The fielding also was good, j The innings closed for 63. Canterbury had thus 36 to get to win, which they did with the loss of two wickets, Baker* oontribution being 26. ' This _oncl«Jded the programme of Canterbury's match** in Victoria, tfce result being that out of their six matches they have won three and lost thwe. The team will leave hy tho Rotorua on Tuesday, and will play a one day's match at Hobart Town on their way. Appended are tho scores in the match ; against Riohmond: — j Richmond. First Inning*.
