Melbourne, December 3t. An attempt waa made to blow up a bakery at Colac by pi icing a quantity of gunpowder in an oven. A boy was a good deal injured, and it is feared he will lose his sight. It is reported from Alexandra that the Kelly's have been located in a hut in the Switzerland ranges for some days, and that the police have been travelling a few miles from them. It is said that this report is confirmed by the fact that four horsemen have been seen galloping before, daylight towards Alexandra, and wit-in eight miles of the township. .. A man named Ga_agher was committed for trial for setting fire to a house. The evidence showed he made improper proposals to a woman while her husband was away, and, being refused, -set fire to the house out of revenge. A disturbance occurred at a Catholic picnic at Wallaroo, owing to the Irish harp being carried in front of the Union Jack. The Mayor of Kadina, thinking the act illegal, remonstrated, and the police subsequently interfered and roughly used one Casford, who lost the use of his speech some time afterwards. He is still dumb, but it is supposed from drink and excitement. Newcastle, December 31. Henry Augustus Scott, a half-caste, shot a man in a drunken quarrel at the Shipwright's Arms. .
