COMMERCIAL.
The business effected in the import market during the past week has been very limited, which in a great measure may be attributed to the Easter holiday and races. Spirits—The demand for brandies has been good at our last rates. We learn of several inferior brands of case offering at 18s 6d to 21s. There has been a very fair run of whiskey, ram, and Woolfe's schnapps. Sngara—Trade sales have been numerous in whites, at £44 to £45; grey, £43 to £43 10s, d.p. Yellows move off fairly at satisfactory rates. In teas we have nothing new to report. Cornsacks and woolpacks—The demand for these lines is rapidly fulling away, owing to the lateness of season; the former realises 10s, the latter 3s 10d to 4s. Bottled ales aad stouta—With the exception of trade sales nothing has been done ; stocks in the former are so low that second brands are eagerly bought np at good rates. Bass's bulk ale—We hear of a parcel now landing ex Pleiades taken up at £9 53 to £910s. We hear of several sales in galvanised iron and standard iron, to arrive, the former realising £28 10s to £i 9; the latter £9 10s. Fencing wire—A few small sales have been recorded at our last quotations. Salt— This line is very dull and likely to remain so for a time, as our large bacon carers have ample stocks; we quote fine £4, coarse £3 165.
