» LITTLE RIVER.

A meeting of this Board was held at the office in Kaituna on Monday, the 14th inst. Present—Messrs Parkinson, Gebbie, Coop, Birdling, and Goodwin. Mr Parkinson was elected chairman for the present year, and Mr Gebbie treasurer. The following communications were read:—From Mr Justin Aylmer, Akaroa, stating that the Assessment Court would be heia at the Road Soard office, Eaituna, due notice of date would be given. From the manager Union Bank, en- " closing deposit receipt for £5600 at 6 per "cent, for a period of tout months. From the Immigration Department, asking if any of the Government cottages were vacant. From the Akaroa and Wainui Board relative to Mount JBbssu road. From the Springs Board, agreeing to this Board's wish to take the Ahuriri road diversion across the Halswell river. From the Lincoln Board, asking this Board to co-operate in building a bridge over the Halswell near the Tai Tapu school. From the " Times" office, offering terms for lithographing maps. The chairman was empowered to make arrangements with parties interested in the Ahuriri road diversion. In reply to the letter of the Lincoln Board, it was decided to inform them that this Board Is of opinion that a new bridge be erected near the site of the present footbridge near the sihool and opposite the road leading in a direct line through the township of Epworth. and joining the Little River road a few chains to the westward of W. Boulton's cottage; this Board to contribute half cost if the Lincoln Board will adopt the new site; and further that the timber in the old bridge be handed over to the Little River . Board, the cost of removal to be included in contract." With reference to the Mount Bossu road, the Board not having received W reply from the Minister for Public Works, the Akaroa and Wainui Board be informed that, pending such reply, the Board at present declined to interfere m the matter. It was resolved to invite tenders for carting and spreading 1600 to 2000 yards of road I metal ou McQueen's fiat; also forming about SO chains of road leading from the Main Drain bridge down the side of the drain, j The clerk was ordered to prepare specifications for building bridge opposite Little River school, and also for raising about 15 chains leading from the bridge in the direction of Okutu valley; also to report upon the Port Levy track and on the cemetery road. The whole to be submitted for consideration at the next meeting of the Board on the 4th of February. Tenders were received for clearing three miles of the Tai Tapu drain, and one accepted.
