SOUTHBROOK C.C. v. BUTCHERS' CO
A match was played at Southbrook on Monday between a team from the Christchurch butchers and the local men, which resulted in an easy victory for the Butohers in one innings and 22 runs to epare, jnring mostly to the good bowling of Me&aehie and Marsden, who shared the honors equally. The highest scorers for the Butchers were Bonnington and Marsden, with 35 and 14 runs respectively. None of the local team reached double figures. At mid-day the teams sat down to a sumptuous repast in the Southbrook mill, kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Archer. A. supper in the evening wound up the day's fun. Great praise is due to Mr Archer and the team for the hospitable manner in which the visitors were treated.
