Miscellaneous. —For tethering horses in thoroughfare*, A. Mole, J. Boot, and G. S. Simpson were each fined 'Os. J. T. Goodsum, for causing an obstruction in High street, was fined 10s. For furious riding, on -the East town belt, J. W. Corr was fined 106. A charge of riding across a footpath, preferred against the same defendant, was dismissed, as it was found to be the result of an accident. For not having sufficient control over bis horse, T. Roberts was fined 10s. Henry Keugate, summoned for perfniffing his chimney to catch fire, wa3 fined jfli K. C. Farr, for riding across a footpath, was fined 103. For obstructing the .footpath in Armagh street, with buUding •materials, John Hughes was fined 10s. John Hickling was summoned for failing to -comply with an order of the Court to pay laatoward the support of his wife Harriet The defendant addressed the Bench at length on the reasons why he should not be compelled to contribute anything towards the support of bis wife in future, and asked for an adjournment to permit the case to be fully gone into. Mr Joynt appeared for complainant. Mrs ISeilson jtated that she has five children. She endefcvored to support her family by keeping a boarding house. Her-husband had been in 46e habit for some time past of getting and annoying her and her boarders, fie was a carpenter by trade, and often earned money, but never gave her anything towards the support of herself and children. The profits she made from her house were. jaotaufficient to maintain her family. The Bench ordered defendant to pay £1 per week, and granted complainant an order for the •custody of her children. The adjourned application of Eliza Cook for a protection order for her earnings and property against her husband, Herman Cook, was called on. Sergeant Wilson gave evidence of defendant's bad-temper &nd the treatment of his wife on one occasion when he was brought before the Court. He did not work, and his wife was 4il«ti working woman. Complainant stated that since he came out of .the hospital, where he had been laid up" with a broken leg, he has been compelled to 3oTight work, and sell fruit and pig's feet. Defendant, with some other boys, have been in the habit for Borne time of taking bis §dbcts, acd afterwards refueicg ta- pay for them. On Saturday night, 4th instant, •bout eleven o'clock, defendant took three pig , * feet out of the basket, and afterwards tefnsed to pay for them.
