A fire at St John's, Canada, destroyed the entire business part of the town : a mile long and 600 yards wide. 210 families are homeless ; many barely escaping with their lives. The Indians in Nebraska have made a descent on the settlers, killing 100 within one week: .* . A Protestant churuh in Mexico has been burned by fanatics. Thirty thousand people daily attend the Centennial Exhibition. The foot-and-mouth disease amongst hogs in some parts of Canada is slaying hundreds.
