LATE ENGLISH NEWS.

By the P. and O. Company's Avoca, which arrived at Adelaide on the 19kh, the Argus has the following late items of English news, dated London, January 7th :— The Goodenough Memorial Committee have decided that the memorial shall be of a charitable or educational character, connected with the Navy. Its precise nature mast depend on the amount of subscription ; but from £1500 to £2000 will probably be required. If the funds admit, the committee will be glad to place a portrait or bust of the late commodore in the painted hall, Greenwich.
